Your financial data is sensitive. This policy tells you exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control or delete it — in plain language, no legal jargon.

1. Overview

lifeExp("we", "our", or "us") is an expense tracking application developed by lifeX Studios. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect through the lifeExp Android application and associated services, how we use it, and the rights you have over it.

By using lifeExp, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the app and discontinue use.

This policy is designed to meet Google Play's User Data policy requirements, including the Data Safety disclosure standards.

2. Data We Collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide the expense tracking service. Here is a full breakdown by category:

We do NOT collect: bank account credentials, card numbers, government IDs, precise GPS location, contacts, or camera/microphone access. We never sell your data to third parties.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • Provide the service: Sync expenses across devices, display your spending history and reports.
  • AI-powered insights: Analyse your spending patterns to surface personalised recommendations and anomalies. All AI processing happens on our servers — raw financial data is never sent to third-party AI providers without anonymisation.
  • Improve the app: Aggregate, anonymised usage data helps us understand which features to improve.
  • Security & fraud prevention: Device identifiers and activity data help detect suspicious access or abuse.
  • Communications: We may send transactional emails (account alerts, data export confirmations). Marketing emails require your explicit opt-in.
  • Legal compliance: We may retain or disclose data when required by law.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only with the following categories of service providers, strictly to operate the app:

  • Cloud infrastructure: Hosting and database providers (data stored encrypted at rest).
  • Crash reporting: Anonymous crash logs sent to a diagnostics provider to fix bugs.
  • Analytics: Anonymised, aggregated usage metrics — no personally identifiable information.
  • Authentication: Third-party sign-in providers (Google, Apple) if you choose to use them. We receive only a user ID and email from them.
  • Law enforcement: Only if required by a valid legal order, and only the minimum data necessary.

All third-party service providers are contractually bound to process your data only on our behalf and in accordance with this policy.

5. Data Security

  • Encryption in transit: All data transmitted between the app and our servers uses TLS 1.2+.
  • Encryption at rest: Your financial data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 in our cloud database.
  • Access controls: Only authorised engineers with a legitimate need can access production data, and all access is logged and audited.
  • No plain-text storage: Passwords are never stored — we use industry-standard hashed authentication tokens.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently delete your personal and financial data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g. tax or fraud records, retained for up to 7 years in anonymised form). Crash logs and diagnostics are retained for 90 days.

7. Your Rights & Controls

You have the following rights over your data at any time:

  • Access: Request a full export of your data in CSV or JSON format from Settings → Account → Export Data.
  • Correction: Update or correct your personal information directly in the app under Settings → Profile.
  • Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and processed within 30 days.
  • Opt-out of analytics: Disable analytics data collection in Settings → Privacy → Analytics.
  • Opt-out of AI insights: Disable AI-powered analysis in Settings → Privacy → AI Features.
  • Portability: Export your expense data in standard formats (CSV, JSON) at any time.

To exercise any right not available in-app, email us at privacy@lifex.biz. We respond within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

lifeExp is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@lifex.biz and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we will notify you via an in-app notification and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
